888 Holdings are one of the oldest and the biggest gambling brands in the world. They have either founded or purchased some of the most recognizable brands in the industry, from the early days of Pacific Poker, to their acquisition of the All American Poker Network in 2018.
Today this mighty brand will be adding enough string to its bow following the acquisition of BetBright, a sports betting platform that is based in Ireland and operates throughout the UK.
The deal will see 888 Holdings acquire BetBright for £15 million in a move that will also see them integrate BetBright’s Dublin-based headquarters into the 888 group. This should help 888 Holdings greatly expand their sports betting operations, expanding their reach and welcoming plenty of experienced employees from BetBright in the process.
And it’s not the only big deal that 888 Holdings have made this year. They recently strengthened their bingo empire by acquiring a selection of brands from Jet, including Sing Bingo, City Bingo, and Costa Bingo. When you put these acquisitions next to the ones they made last year in an effort to increase their hold on the UK poker market, it’s clear that 888 Holdings have their sights set on becoming one of the biggest brands in the world.
If that’s the case then BetBright is another step in the right direction. While the Irish-based betting site wasn’t one of the top 5 or even top 10 in the UK in terms of traffic, it still processed huge amounts of money every single day.
More importantly, BetBright is also a recognizable brand for many UK punters thanks to their sponsorship deals with Nottingham Forest Football Club and BAMMA (Europe’s biggest MMA promotor), as well as the work of ambassadors like footballer Jimmy Bullard, cricketer Phil Tuffnell, and snooker player Ken Doherty.
