Following up its immense success in the European poker market, PokerStars intends to strengthen its presence in Spain’s live poker industry with a recently publicized agreement to fund live tournaments at Casino Barcelona, as well as its yearly series, Campeonato Espana de Poker or CEP. CEP was held last week from February 28 to March 4 in Barcelona and will finish up from November 28 to December 2 in Perlada.
A Few Changes for the Tour
The new agreement will lead to a few changes for the event, including incorporating the sponsor brand into the series, changing it to “Campeonato Espana de Poker por PokerStars.” Additionally, casino players can now qualify for this series and other Casino Barcelona occasions via online satellites at PokerStars.
As a bonus to casino players, a whopping $30K Platinum Pass will be provided to the series winner, who will get a ticket to participate in the $9 million added $25K PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship or PSPC to be held in 2019 in The Bahamas.

Guy Templer, COO of Stars Interactive Group, said, “Casino Barcelona is among the major poker locations and we are excited to partner with such as a well-loved and well-established casino.” Star Interactive Group is the gaming department of the Stars Group.
Jorge Alonso, Campeonato de Espana de Poker manager, commented, “I look forward to strengthening this partnership.” He continued, “I am certain that with this accord CEP will have higher levels of involvement and assist PokerStars further strengthening its position as the leader in the Spanish market. After a successful 2017, we are proud to announce this accord and we expect that casino players will also be excited about our partnership.”
PokerStars will act as the sponsor of the CEP and have a presence at the casino for other live tournaments, such as the European Poker Tour Barcelona which will run from August 21 to September 2, where casino players can expect healthy cash games, big guaranteed events, and even more $30K Platinum Passes.
