Fun88 Online Casino Review
The Fun88 brand currently sponsors Newcastle United, a English Premier League football team. That sponsorship has thrust them into the spotlight and has introduced the brand to million of gamblers throughout Europe.
Fun88 is primarily a sports book, but they also have a casino and you can seamlessly switch between the two as soon as you have an account.
First off, it’s worth noting that Fun88, while smaller and lesser known, has the feel of a big site. There are some things that look a little amateurish, such as the design of the help documents and the account pages and the fact that the top header is a simple choice between “Sports” and “Casino”, as opposed to the half dozen options you get on the bigger real money online casino sites.
In terms of the markets it offers, it is huge. The promotions are also good, but there is an issue here and it comes in the way that they are unlocked. You have to abide by some unnecessarily strict and awkward terms, both for sports and casino promotions, and rather than these unlocking automatically when you qualify, you have to then email/live chat the customer support team in order to request the bonus.
It just seems like an unnecessary journey to take, especially once you consider most players will be used to those bonuses being unlocked automatically.
Fun88 is not very big and there isn’t a great deal going on here either. As soon as you visit the casino side of the site you can tell that this is a sports book first and a casino second. They have devoted very little time to the casino and have clearly focused the majority of their efforts on the sport book.
They are still relatively new and have only really started to make a name for themselves as of late 2017, so this might change in time. But as things stand it’s hard to find a reason why players would choose this real money online casino over everything else. You could certainly make a case for the sports book, which pays out fast, has great support and covers many markets and if you have money in the sports book then the casino begins to make more sense.
If that was the case, however, then you have to wonder if it would be easier and better to simply opt for sites like WilliamHill, where you can do the same thing but where you can enjoy both the sportsbook and the casino side of things better. In other words, while Fun88 is a great option if you’ve played the big sites and are looking for something different, and while it may have a big brand behind it, right now it just can’t compete against everything else on the market.
Casino Rating: 5/10
There is a lot of work needed to be done here before Fun88 can truly compete with the highest rated online casino with slots. They need to improve the aesthetic and the features; they need more games. Most importantly, they also need to fix their terms and conditions with regards to the bonuses.
It seems to us that they have installed this awkward detour because they know that most players will simply not see those terms, will expect the bonus to be unlocked automatically, and will miss out when that does not happen. This means that they can avoid paying out about half of all bonuses, but it also means that they have to pay members of staff to deal with the other half, as well as all of the complaints from people who felt like they were tricked.
Whether they did this on purpose or not it seems like a dumb move. And this seems to be a trend that you can find across the site. There is a lot of good here and we personally enjoyed our time, but that good is spoiled by some reckless mistakes, ones that big online casino brands should not be making and ones that they will need to rectify if they want to continue growing.
We know they are already big and we know they have a big budget because of their marketing campaigns and sponsorship. But countless gambling brands have sponsored football teams, stadiums and TV adverts, only to buckle under the weight of their own failure months or years later. Fun88 need to prove to members that it’s not one of these brands. We don’t think it is, but many others will.
